Puri, Odisha: The grand annual Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 is underway in Puri, attracting lakhs of devotees from across the country and beyond. The world-famous festival celebrates the ceremonial procession of Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra, and sister Goddess Subhadra as their massive wooden chariots are pulled from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.
This year, prominent industrialist Gautam Adani arrived in Puri to take part in the spiritual festivities. As part of its social outreach, the Adani Group has launched a dedicated ‘Prasad Seva’ initiative in Puri during the Rath Yatra. Through this service, the group is distributing meals and offering assistance to both visiting pilgrims and frontline security personnel from June 26 to July 8.
To maintain public safety during the celebrations, around 10,000 security personnel, including eight companies from the Central Armed Police Forces, have been deployed across the temple town.
Additionally, for the first time, a Jagannath Rath Yatra is being celebrated at the newly built Lord Jagannath Temple in Digha, West Bengal. Devotees there are participating enthusiastically in the traditional rituals and festivities.
