In a deeply concerning incident, a 24-year-old law student from South Calcutta Law College has lodged a police complaint alleging physical assault and harassment by three individuals on the college premises. The case, which surfaced on June 26, has led to the immediate arrest of the accused following the victim’s detailed statement to the authorities.
According to officials, the student claimed she was attacked inside the college campus on the evening of June 25. The accused allegedly confined her within the premises and physically assaulted her. The victim further alleged that one of the attackers filmed the incident without her consent and later used it to threaten and intimidate her.
A senior officer from Kolkata Police confirmed that the mobile phones of all three accused have been seized and sent for forensic examination. The incident has sparked outrage, recalling concerns over the safety and security of students on educational campuses in the city.
“The victim’s medical examination reports have supported her statements, and all three accused have been remanded to police custody,” the officer said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as a college staff member and two students. Legal proceedings are currently underway, while the college authorities have assured full cooperation with the investigation.
The legal representative of one of the accused has denied the allegations, claiming that his client is being wrongly implicated.
