New York, NY – Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs scored a partial legal victory in his high-profile federal trial, as a jury found him not guilty on the most serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. However, the verdict wasn’t entirely in his favor.
After over two days of jury deliberation, Combs was convicted on two counts related to the transportation of individuals for the purpose of prostitution. Each count carries a potential 10-year prison sentence, meaning Diddy now faces a maximum of 20 years behind bars.
Will Diddy Be Released Before Sentencing?
Following the verdict, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, immediately requested his client’s release while awaiting sentencing.
“My proposal would be that he be released today, that he be permitted to live at his home in Florida,” said Agnifilo, suggesting a $1 million bond, or an amount the judge deems appropriate.
The prosecution opposed the request, arguing that Combs should remain in custody due to the severity of the charges.
Judge Arun Subramanian has scheduled a bail hearing for 5 p.m. ET, where the final decision on Diddy’s pre-sentencing release will be determined.
What’s Next for Diddy?
Although cleared of the most damaging accusations, the guilty verdict on two federal counts still places Combs in serious legal jeopardy. His sentencing date has not yet been announced, but the court is expected to move forward quickly given the public attention surrounding the case.
