Tehran has strongly objected to recent comments made by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The statement came shortly after Mr. Trump claimed through his Truth Social platform that he had prevented an assassination attempt on the Iranian leader.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the remarks as “disrespectful and unacceptable.” He further urged the former U.S. president to adopt a more diplomatic and respectful approach if he genuinely wishes to resume dialogue.
The Foreign Minister also referenced recent regional developments, claiming that Iran’s defensive capabilities have demonstrated their strength, compelling regional actors to seek external support.
These remarks follow a series of military actions, with the United States reportedly targeting three Iranian nuclear facilities last weekend. This move aligned with similar operations carried out by Israel, as part of an ongoing conflict that began on June 13.
Despite Mr. Trump’s assertions of having worked on easing sanctions against Iran, diplomatic sources in Tehran denied any scheduled talks with the United States in the coming week.
The situation highlights the growing tensions between the two nations amid escalating military and diplomatic confrontations.
